Digital Product Licence & Angel Policy

At Relatively Thoughtful, we believe creativity should be enjoyed and shared.
When you purchase one of our digital craft collections, we want you to use it. Print it, cut it, layer it, alter it and turn it into something wonderful.
We are also happy for individual crafters and small handmade businesses to sell the finished craft projects they personally create using our products.
What we ask in return is simple: please respect and protect the original artwork and digital files.
This licence explains what you may and may not do with Relatively Thoughtful digital products.
1. Your licence
When you purchase or otherwise receive an authorised Relatively Thoughtful digital product, you receive a licence to use the files in accordance with these terms.
You do not purchase or acquire ownership of the copyright or other intellectual property contained within the product.
Copyright and other intellectual property rights remain with Relatively Thoughtful and/or the artist, illustrator or designer credited with the collection.
2. Create as much as you like
You may print your purchased digital collection as many times as you wish for the purposes permitted by this licence.
There is no numerical limit on the number of handmade projects you may create.
You may use our digital products to make finished craft projects including cards, scrapbook pages, journals, albums, mixed-media projects, altered-art projects, tags, gift packaging, decorative papercraft, home décor and similar handmade creations.
You may make these projects for yourself, as gifts or for charitable purposes.
3. Selling your handmade creations – our Angel Policy
We are happy for individual crafters and small handmade businesses to sell finished handmade projects they personally create using Relatively Thoughtful products.
There is no fixed annual quantity limit.
A finished item must, however, be a genuinely created craft project rather than simply a reproduction of our original product or artwork.
For example, you may print one of our papers and use it with other elements to create a handmade card, journal, scrapbook page or other finished project and sell that creation.
You may not simply print copies of the original paper, illustration, topper, tag or other component and sell those copies as craft supplies.
Our guiding principle is: We want you to create with our artwork, not commercially reproduce our artwork.
4. Sharing your finished creations
We love seeing what you make.
You may photograph or film your finished creations and share them on social media, blogs, websites and video platforms.
You may also use photographs of your finished handmade projects to promote your own handmade craft business.
Where practical, we would be delighted if you credit Relatively Thoughtful and/or the collection or contributing artist used. This helps other crafters discover the original products and supports the artists and designers who create them.
5. Your digital files are for your use
Your purchased digital files must not be sold, shared, given away, redistributed or made available to other people.
You may not:
• email or otherwise send copies of the files to another person;
• upload them to shared drives, groups, forums, websites or file-sharing services for others to access;
• provide copies to friends, customers, students, craft-group members or other businesses;
• sell or redistribute the files individually or as part of another collection;
• offer the files as a free download, giveaway or promotional freebie.
Anyone wishing to use a Relatively Thoughtful digital collection must obtain their own authorised copy.
6. Extracting or adapting artwork
You may crop, resize, layer, recolour or otherwise adapt elements from a digital collection where necessary to create your own permitted finished craft project.
However, you may not extract, isolate, adapt or copy individual illustrations, characters, flowers, sentiments, patterns, backgrounds or other design elements for resale, redistribution or commercial exploitation as artwork or design assets.
You may not use our artwork to create digital products for sale or distribution, including clipart collections, digital craft kits, printable collections, digital papers, downloadable cards, templates, SVGs, digital cutting files or other digital design resources.
Changing the colour, size, layout, file format or other characteristics of the artwork does not give you ownership of the underlying artwork or permission to redistribute it.
7. Cricut, Silhouette and similar craft software
You may import your purchased Relatively Thoughtful files into Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio or similar craft software where this is necessary to create your own permitted finished craft projects.
You may resize, crop and prepare the artwork for your own crafting.
You may not use this permission to create SVGs, cutting files, digital templates, clipart or other digital assets for sale, sharing or redistribution.
8. Professional printing
You may use a professional or commercial printing service to print your purchased digital files on your behalf for your own permitted crafting.
You remain responsible for ensuring that the files are supplied only for this purpose.
This permission does not give the printing service any independent right to retain, reuse, reproduce, sell, distribute or otherwise exploit the artwork.
9. Printed craft supplies
You may print our digital products as often as you wish to create your own permitted finished projects.
You may not print and sell or distribute the original papers, toppers, tags, ephemera, illustrations or other collection components as craft supplies.
If you would like to manufacture, distribute or retail Relatively Thoughtful products, please contact us to discuss an appropriate wholesale or commercial agreement.
10. Repeated commercial reproduction and mass production
Our Angel Policy is intended to support individual crafters and small handmade businesses.
It does not grant permission for industrial or mass production of our artwork.
Repeated commercial reproduction of substantially identical digitally designed finished products is not covered by the standard Angel Policy and requires prior written permission from Relatively Thoughtful.
For example, personally creating handmade cards using our papers and embellishments is permitted.
Creating a digital card design incorporating our artwork and arranging for large quantities of substantially identical copies to be commercially printed for resale requires prior permission.
If you are unsure whether your proposed use falls within this section, please ask us. Permission may be available depending upon the product, artwork and intended use.
11. Print-on-demand and merchandise
The standard licence does not permit our artwork to be used for print-on-demand products or commercial merchandise.
You may not upload our artwork to services for the purpose of selling products such as mugs, clothing, fabric, stationery, homeware or similar merchandise displaying the artwork.
If you are interested in manufacturing merchandise using Relatively Thoughtful artwork, please contact us to discuss whether a separate commercial licence is available.
12. Classes, workshops and demonstrations
You may use your own authorised copy of a Relatively Thoughtful digital collection when teaching or demonstrating a craft project.
You may display the product during your class or demonstration and provide project instructions that you have created yourself.
Purchasing one copy does not give permission to distribute the digital files to students or participants.
Where participants require the collection to complete the project themselves, each participant must obtain their own authorised copy unless Relatively Thoughtful has agreed alternative arrangements with the teacher or organiser in writing.
13. Design Teams and authorised promotional use
Relatively Thoughtful Design Team members, guest designers, demonstrators and other authorised collaborators may sometimes receive digital products without purchasing them.
Their use of those files is governed by the separate permission or agreement provided by Relatively Thoughtful.
Receiving artwork for promotional, Design Team or demonstration purposes does not transfer copyright or ownership.
14. Artificial intelligence and machine learning
Unless prior written permission has been obtained from the relevant copyright owner or owners, Relatively Thoughtful digital files and artwork may not be deliberately supplied or uploaded for the purpose of training, fine-tuning or developing artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
The artwork may not be compiled into a dataset or knowingly supplied as a design resource for the creation of an AI model or other commercial generative-art resource based upon the original artwork.
15. Collaborating artists and designers
Some Relatively Thoughtful collections contain artwork created by independent artists, illustrators and designers.
Copyright in individual artwork may remain with the credited contributing artist while Relatively Thoughtful holds permission to develop and distribute the finished papercraft collection.
Your purchase gives you only the customer-use rights set out in the licence supplied with that collection.
Where a particular artist or collection has additional or different licensing conditions, these will be clearly stated in the licence accompanying that product.
Please keep the licence supplied with your downloaded collection. The licence accompanying the collection identifies the terms applicable to that product.
16. Copyright and ownership
Unless otherwise stated, Relatively Thoughtful digital products and their constituent artwork are protected by copyright belonging to Relatively Thoughtful and/or the credited contributing artist or designer.
Purchasing or receiving a digital product does not transfer copyright or other intellectual property rights to you.
17. Uses requiring additional permission
Please contact Relatively Thoughtful before using our digital products for manufacturing, wholesale, commercial reproduction, publishing, licensing, large-scale production or any other use not clearly permitted by this licence.
Additional commercial permissions may be available.
18. Your consumer rights
Nothing in this licence is intended to exclude, restrict or reduce any statutory rights or remedies you have as a consumer under applicable law.

We want this licence to protect our artwork without making crafting unnecessarily complicated.

We would much rather answer a question than stop someone from creating!
